Identifying Confined Spaces in Your Workplace
It’s important to know which spaces around your facility require specialized confined spaces plumbing services. OSHA defines permit-required confined spaces as those that possess one or more of the following characteristics:
- The space is large enough for an employee to enter and perform work but has limited or restricted means for entry and exit and is not designed for continuous occupancy
- The confined space has a hazardous or potentially hazardous atmosphere, including too little or too much oxygen or the presence of toxic or explosive gasses or vapors (such as hydrogen sulfide or methane)
- The space contains a material that can, or potentially will, engulf an employee, such as water, sludge, or physical materials that can trap or suffocate workers
- The space has an internal configuration, such as floors that slope downwards or other features, that can, or potentially will, trap or asphyxiate employees and hinder escape or rescue efforts
- The confined space has any other recognized serious safety or health hazards, including machinery with moving parts, sources of electrical shocks, steam (burn hazard), or liquids (drowning and fire hazards)
By understanding these characteristics and correctly identifying confined spaces in your workplace, you can take the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of your employees and comply with OSHA regulations.
Our Municipal & Industrial Confined Space Process
Addressing confined space challenges in municipal and industrial settings requires careful preparation to ensure personnel safety and effective management. Before any work begins, a qualified leader must conduct a detailed evaluation of the confined area to identify any existing or potential dangers.
Following this evaluation, a Confined Space Entry Permit is granted, outlining essential safety protocols that must be adhered to. Our proficient team proceeds to carry out necessary maintenance or repair tasks within these confined spaces. Utilizing advanced equipment, they efficiently remove debris and obstructions or carry out the repair or replacement of defective components, ensuring the smooth operation of municipal and industrial facilities.

“The technician was very helpful and gave me several ‘pointers’ about what we could do to help get the most out of our septic system.”- Stephen F.

John Gilles performed our septic pump on 10/10/25. After the pump was completed, he asked me to flush each toilet a few times to make sure things were looking good. He also gave me advice on how to tell the tank is full and to prevent issues, since we should have had it pumped sooner than we did. He did a great job putting the dirt back afterwards since he had to dig to get to the tank. He was funny too! Great service, would be glad to have him again. By the way, the new online ordering system is much better. I'm glad it pulls details in from past orders now so I no longer have to re-enter them manually. Much quicker, thank you for that improvement!- Alicia Lacroix

I spoke to the technician who pumped my tank Steve S and he was very personable and knowledgeable. My wife was watching Steve S cover hole that he dug up to pump my septic tank, and said that person really takes pride in his work because of the care he took to make it look natural again. I went out and told Steve my wifes comments because people seem to only hear the bad comments.- randy l
