Why Choose Hapchuk for Drain Cleaning
Hapchuk has served the PA-OH-WV Tri-state area since 1954 and now operates as part of Wind River Environmental. That history means we understand local plumbing, soil, and septic conditions, while our connection to a larger network gives you access to advanced tools and additional support when needed.
We are state permitted and certified in the collection, transportation, and disposal of non-hazardous wastewater, and we operate under Pennsylvania Contractor Number #PA015030. This regulatory foundation helps ensure your drain and sewer work is handled safely and in compliance with state requirements.
Our service coverage includes Washington County communities such as Canonsburg, Bethel Park, South Hills suburbs, and Uniontown, plus Allegheny County (Pittsburgh), Fayette and Greene counties, Monongalia County WV (Morgantown), and Ohio County WV (Wheeling). Wherever you are in this corridor, our 60-vehicle fleet helps us respond quickly.
Before any work begins, our technicians review their findings, recommendations, and pricing with you. You will know what we suggest, why we suggest it, and what it will cost before we start. After the visit, you receive an email with your receipt, documents, and photos so you have a clear record of the drain service performed.

How Our Drain Cleaning Process Works
Many drain problems start as a minor clogged drain and turn out to be a sign of a deeper sewer line blockage or even tree root intrusion. Our process is built to find the real cause and clear the whole line, not just punch a small hole through the clog.
Step 1: Snaking to Open the Line
We typically start with snaking. A drain snake, also called an auger, is sent down the problem drain inside your home or business to break up or pull back the blockage. Snaking is effective for many simple clogs in sinks, toilets, and showers.
Snaking helps us see how the line behaves once the immediate obstruction is disturbed. If the drain does not return to normal, or if the clog comes right back, that is often a sign of a more serious issue in the main sewer line or further down the pipe.
Step 2: Sewer Camera Inspection to Find the Cause
If snaking does not fully resolve the issue, we use a sewer camera for a sewer camera inspection. The sewer camera travels inside the pipe and sends a live feed, so both you and the technician can see what is happening in real time.
This non-invasive approach lets us pinpoint the exact location and nature of the blockage without digging up your yard or cutting into walls. The camera can reveal breaks, cracks, tree root intrusion, bellies in the line, or heavy buildup from fats, oils, grease, and soap scum.
Step 3: Sewer Jetting Services to Clean the Line
Once we locate the problem, we use a high-powered sewer jetter to provide sewer jetting services and clear the line. Hydro jetting uses high-pressure water to scour the inside of the pipe, washing away debris and residue that snaking alone might leave behind.
Where snaking primarily pierces or pulls a clog, sewer jetting cleans the pipe walls, removing buildup that can cause clogs to return. Our root-cutting services are available when tree roots have grown into the line and are blocking flow.
Wind River Environmental recommends yearly sewer jetting maintenance for many properties to reduce buildup from soaps, grease, hair, and household debris. Regular maintenance can help reduce emergency calls and keep your plumbing and sewer laterals flowing more reliably.
Drains & Properties We Service
Our drain cleaning services cover common residential and commercial fixtures as well as main sewer lines. We serve homes, businesses, and municipal and industrial customers across Washington County and the surrounding Tri-state area.
For residential customers, we clear and clean:
- Kitchen and bathroom sinks with slow drainage or complete blockages.
- Toilets that clog frequently or back up into tubs or showers.
- Showers and tubs affected by hair and soap buildup.
- Sewer lines and sewer laterals that connect your building to the municipal system or septic system.
For commercial properties, Hapchuk provides drain service for Washington County businesses and facilities of many types. Commercial plumbing often carries higher volumes and can require scheduled preventive drain cleaning to help avoid downtime and disruption.
Main sewer line clogs can be caused by blockages in the line leading out to the town sewer or to septic leach fields. We address these larger issues and coordinate with your septic system provider as needed if our findings suggest a septic-related concern.
In many rural and suburban parts of southwestern Pennsylvania, homes and businesses are on septic systems rather than municipal sewer. When drains are slow or backing up, part of our job is to help determine whether the problem is inside the plumbing or related to the septic system so you know your next step.
