Faulty Flapper Valve: The flapper valve is responsible for sealing the flush valve opening. If the flapper is damaged, worn, or misaligned, water can continuously leak into the bowl, causing the toilet to run.
Adjustment Issues with the Flapper Chain: The chain that connects the flush lever to the flapper may be too tight or too loose. If it's too tight, the flapper may not seal properly. If it's too loose, the flapper may not lift when you flush, causing a constant leak.
Float Ball or Float Cup Issues: The float ball or float cup is part of the ballcock assembly in the toilet tank. If it's set too high, it can lead to continuous water flow. Adjust the float ball or cup to the correct water level.
Faulty Fill Valve: The fill valve controls the water entering the toilet tank after a flush. If the fill valve is not working correctly, it may allow water to continuously flow into the tank.
Water Level Adjustment: If the water level in the tank is set too high, water will continuously flow into the overflow tube, leading to a running toilet. Adjust the water level to the recommended mark.
Leaking Flush Valve Seal: The flush valve has a seal at the bottom that can deteriorate over time. If this seal is damaged, water can leak into the bowl, causing the toilet to run.
