How often does a septic tank need to be pumped?

With so many factors determining how often your septic system needs servicing including factors like the size of your home, or how many people living in the house and the size of your tank, there isn’t always one answer for how often you should have your system cleaned – however as a rule I recommend having mine pumped every 3 years at minimum.

The question we hear most often is “How do I know if my septic tank needs pumped out?” Here are some things you should be aware of:

• Water is draining slowly from the shower, bathtub, sink and other areas
• Look for sewer backups in the lowest drains first, like in the basement bathroom
• Pooling water or a really green area of grass in your yard.
