Wind River Environmental Acquires Hartigan Wastewater Services and A-1 Gator Wastewater Services Strengthening Service Capabilities in Vermont and Florida

Marlborough, MA, Middlesex, VT, Fort Myers, FL– 2/21/2018 – Wind River Environmental (“Wind River”) the nation’s largest full service liquid waste management service provider, announced today that it has acquired all of the assets of Hartigan Wastewater Services of Middlesex, Vermont and A-1 Gator Wastewater Services of Fort Myers, Florida from Marlin Environmental, Inc. (“The Company”). This acquisition solidifies Wind River’s leading presence in both Vermont and Florida.

Hartigan Wastewater Services has a long-standing reputation in Vermont dating back to the 1950’s as a premier provider with a service area covering all of Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine, and Northeastern NY up to the Canadian border. A-1 Gator Wastewater Services based in Fort Myers, Florida was formed in 2013 by Marlin through the acquisition of Fort Myers based A-1 Septic Services in 2013, and Gator Septic Services in 2014.  Similar to Wind River, Hartigan and A-1 Gator are full service providers of non-hazardous liquid waste services, including grease tank and grease trap pumping, drain cleaning, septic tank and drainfield pumping and repairs, vactor services, camera inspections, and portable toilet services to a diversified mix of commercial, municipal and residential customers.

Larry Lawson, Florida Division President at Viking Mergers & Acquisitions was engaged by the Company to facilitate this successful strategic transaction. With a 22 year track record and its established bid process, Viking confidentially represented the Company’s best interest while identifying the strongest candidate to acquire their business. According to all parties involved, Larry Lawson and his team exceeded expectations and were invaluable in facilitating a timely and successful transaction closing.

John O’Connell, Wind River’s CEO, stated, “Carl Bailin, the owner of Hartigan and A-1 Gator is somebody I’ve known for many years and I’ve admired his Hartigan operation in Vermont.  The work he and his team have done in combining A-1 Gator to create the leading non-hazardous liquid waste business in Southwest Florida has also been impressive.  Everyone at Wind River Environmental is excited to bring these two businesses into the Wind River group of companies and I am personally thrilled that Carl has chosen to stay on with us and assist us as we move forward with our consolidation plans.”
