Septic Services in Carmel, New York

November 7, 2019

In 1691, the town of Carmel, NY (aka Carmel Hamlet) was purchased from the Wappingers tribe by Dutch traders. Originally the town was part of Dutchess County but prior to the American Revolution, the County was split into numerous new towns becoming Putnam County. The town spans 40 miles of Putnam County and the 2010 census revealed a population of 34,305 residents.

Carmel, NY is located just 50 miles from New York City and offers dramatically different scenery than the hectic city life. According to the Carmel Town website, the New York City and Northern Railroad were built through the town in 1800 which included five stations in Carmel. In the mid 1900’s, Carmel became a popular vacation spot because of its rural charm, beautiful lakes and short distance from the city.

Today, Carmel remains the quiet residential town presenting the same rural charm that attracted vacationers back in the day. Quaint homes line the beautiful lakes and streets, several state parks and forests are available for walking and bike riding. Gorgeous country clubs allow for a peaceful game of golf, and the Chuang Yen Monastery is home to the largest indoor Buddha statue in the Western Hemisphere. With such a short distance to and from Carmel to New York City, it’s a perfect location to get the best of both worlds.

Environmental protection is an important part of life in this beautiful County. With several lakes in close vicinity, it is crucial to maintain and limit wastewater to prevent polluting these gorgeous bodies of water. The Town of Carmel requires any property with a septic system (onsite-wastewater system) to have it inspected and pumped at a minimum of once every five years. Depending on your usage, most septic tanks require service every 2-3 years. Wind River Environmental understands the importance of septic service in Carmel, NY, which is why we’ve become experts in the industry.
